How to Verify Vehicle RC Details Online (Vahan Portal)

Every motor vehicle in India must hold a valid Registration Certificate (RC). Using the Vahan registry, you can track the validity, ownership, and tax information of any vehicle. Here is how:

  1. Visit the official National Register Vahan portal: vahan.parivahan.gov.in.
  2. Enter the **Vehicle Registration Number** (e.g. DL-1CA-1234) without spaces or hyphens.
  3. Submit the verification captcha.
  4. Click on **"Search Vehicle"** to view registration book records, fitness expiry date, engine number, and road tax validity.

Alternative: Check Vehicle RC Details via SMS

If you don't have internet access, you can verify vehicle RC status via an offline SMS service directly provided by National Informatics Centre (NIC):

VAHAN <VEHICLE_NUMBER>

Example: VAHAN DL1CA1234

Send this text message to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. You will receive an instant SMS containing the vehicle owner's name, fuel type, RTO name, and RC expiry details.
