Common Issues & Step-by-Step Solutions

Troubleshoot the most frequent problems users face on the official Sarathi and Vahan portals.

💳 Issue 1: Payment Debited but Status is "Pending"

Possible Cause: Bank gateway sync delay or network interruption during reconciliation.
Official Solution: Do NOT make a double payment. Wait 24–48 hours for automatic reconciliation. Alternatively, go to the official portal, navigate to "Fee Payments", click "Verify Payment Status", and enter your Application Number and DOB to manually pull the updated receipt.

📱 Issue 2: Aadhaar OTP Not Received on Registered Mobile

Possible Cause: UIDAI server congestion or DND settings activated on your mobile carrier.
Official Solution: Ensure your phone has active cellular service and can receive SMS. If it still fails, select the "Non-Aadhaar / Physical Submission" option. This bypasses online e-KYC but requires you to upload physical scans of address/age proof manually and visit the RTO for document verification.

🪪 Issue 3: DL Smart Card Dispatched but Not Delivered

Possible Cause: Mismatch/absence of house number in RTO records, or postal courier issues.
Official Solution: Log in to the "DL Status Check" on Sarathi. Look for the Speed Post Tracking Number displayed on your successful screen. Copy this ID and track it on the India Post official site. If the address was insufficient, the card is returned to your local RTO. You must visit the RTO with your application printout to collect it physically.

📅 Issue 4: RTO Slot Booking Mismatches or Cancellations

Possible Cause: Sudden local holidays, administrative load, or system lockouts.
Official Solution: If a scheduled slot is cancelled by the RTO, the system resets your booking token. Go to Appointments > Cancel Slot (to clear past logs), and then proceed to Slot Booking to choose the next available date. No additional service charges apply for rescheduling.
