How to Check DL Status Online (Step-by-Step)
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) operates the centralized Sarathi portal which allows citizens to check the real-time status of their Driving Licence application or renewal. Follow these simple steps:
- Go directly to the official government dashboard: sarathi.parivahan.gov.in.
- Select your respective **State** from the dropdown menu to open your state's RTO hub.
- Click on **"Application Status"** at the top right of the screen.
- Input your **Application Number** and your **Date of Birth (DOB)**.
- Fill in the security captcha and click **Submit** to view your live progress.
Common DL Application Status Labels & Meanings
Once you search, the portal may show different status labels. Here is what they mean:
1. Scrutiny (Documents Verification)
The RTO officials are cross-checking your uploaded age proof, address proof, and medical certificate (Form 1A).
2. Under Process at RTO Level
Your application has passed document checks and is pending driving test result entry or approval by the RTO superintendent.
3. Printed / Dispatched
Your smart card Driving Licence has been successfully printed and handed over to India Post. You will receive a tracking number via SMS.
